Blogging and Photography

Blogging and Photography go hand in hand.  After all, who wants to read a wall of text?  Starting out a blog is easy in concept.  After all, you’re basically writing down your thoughts for the world to share.  However, which thoughts should make it on to the blog?  For example, if your goal is to write about food then pictures of food are expected to pepper the blog posts.

This brings me to my conundrum and maybe others share it… I’m not a photographer, but I like to take pictures.  I want to take interesting and eye-catching pictures of food (and other things).  So, where to start?  Well, if you’re like me,  you’ve already taken a photography class and have in possession a DSLR camera.  Now, what?

Now, you need the inspiration.  I was searching online for some blogs to read and came across streetsofnuremberg.com.  In his post, Marcus talked about using his iPhone to take some amazing photos of food and explained his workflow.

I felt inspired to take more pictures after reading his blog post and maybe a bit of validation.  See, I like taking pictures with my phone because it feels more spontaneous and in the moment (plus, there’s no bulky camera to carry around).  So, after reading his post I felt like I can continue to take pictures with my iPhone, I just need better technique and photo editing software.

Blogging and Photography go hand in hand.  I believe the desire to create a better blog will lead to better photography skills which will lead to better content (at least visually!).  I guess you could always hire a photographer for your blog, but that’s another story 😀
